Family Caregiver Support Program

There are only four kinds of people in this world:

Those who have been caregivers;

those who currently are caregivers;

those who will be caregivers, and

those who will need caregivers.

--Rosalynn Carter

The Family Caregiver Support Program assists eligible family caregivers by educating them about care giving, informing them about available services in their communities, helping them to gain access to needed services, and supporting them throughout their care giving experiences.

There are two groups of caregivers that are eligible for the services of the Family Caregiver Support Program:

  • Family caregivers who provide unpaid care to individuals aged 60 and over
  • Grandparents, or other relatives aged 60 or over, who are the primary caregivers of related children aged 18 and under

  • The Family Caregiver Support Program supports family caregivers in a variety of ways:
  • Information and assistance
  • Evaluation of needs
  • Referral to services
  • Emotional support
  • Training for family caregivers
